Home is where you don't have to go the distance.
David Suzuki's Green Guide

David Suzuki's Green Guide

Four very interesting points regarding lowering your drive and fly distances or km's accumulated.

1. The amount of energy used in calories/km for cycling(22), walking (62), driving(1155).

2. The walking school bus where parents and volunteers walk from house to house picking up kids as they go and the group eventually makes it to school. Saves energy, fresh air and socializing. Police recomend safest route.

3. Drive and fly fewer km's making use of teleconferencing and vacation closer to home.

4. In North America we rack up 8 trillion passenger km/year (road & air). This equals 200 million trips around the earth, or 21 million trips to the moon. The average driver/flyer goes around the planet about once a year.
